THE SUN OF SPRING — THE SON OF LIFE

The following is a poem that acknowledges the “mystery” behind the renewal that happens each spring and our place within that  power.

Behold, my brothers, spring has come. The earth has received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of that love. Every seed is awakened and so has all animal life. It is through this mysterious power that we too have our being. Therefore, we yield to our neighbors — even our animal neighbors — they have the same right as ourselves to inhabit the land.

This poem has been attributed to Sitting Bull. One can read into this poem the embrace of God’s love for us in the story of the Resurrection, the concept that humans are part of nature (not above nature) and that all have a right to inhabit the land. Happy Easter!
