ENVIRONMENTAL COST OF WAR IN IRAN

This war has already put in place a long-term environmental crisis that will take decades or longer to make a limited recovery in the Middle East. As of the end of March, The Guardian reported that 5 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions have been added to the total emissions — which, of course, will increase global warming and add more severe weather patterns to all of us. Iran and the surrounding countries are prone to drought conditions; pollution of aquifers, wells, lakes or desalination plants puts huge populations at risk. When “black rain” full of acid and sulfuric compounds hits the earth — all ecosystems  suffer. The Persian Gulf is being polluted, affecting marine life and mangroves. Average people in the Middle East are suffering now and into their future while leaders fight for control of fossil fuels.

Earth Steward Action: Contact policy makers with your concerns — conserve energy as much as you can.
