RECYCLING TIPS & HAZARDOUS WASTE
Spring is here and it is time to clean up the shop, garage or garden shed. Hiding in corners may be old paint cans, old pesticides that need to go to the county hazardous waste site. You will need an appointment (you can also pick up used items for free). The site will not accept items that are not labeled, ammunition, fireworks, asbestos, computers and electronics, or fireworks. Go to https://lawrenceks.gov/swm/hhw/ or call 785-832-3036.
Here are some recycling tips that will keep the recycling system working correctly. Keep items separate (no nesting items). Be sure to rinse out food remains. Never put plastic bags in recycling. Follow the guide for plastic containers. Do not add electronics or garden hoses, and do not add items smaller than a credit card.
We can all do our part in recycling properly.
