Detox Your Home Part Two

Last week we covered dealing with toxic fragrances,

accumulated dust and dirt, and avoiding plastic use

(especially cutting boards and microwaving in plastic

containers). Here are this week’s tips:

FILTER YOUR WATER. Try to find pitchers or whole

house filters that reduce “forever chemicals.” Most of

these toxins come from the production of plastics. Many

bypass city filter systems.

AVOID WATER AND STAIN-RESISTANT CLOTHES &

SPRAYS. Furniture, rugs, raincoats and boots treated with

these chemicals can release them into the air. Read

labels.

OPEN THE HOUSE TO FRESH AIR AND SUNLIGHT.

This helps move toxins out, especially in the winter

months.

ADD HOUSEPLANTS. Living plants add oxygen to the

home and offer a calming bit of the outdoors.

USE NATURAL CLEANERS WHEN POSSIBLE. Add

vinegar to water for detoxing kitchen counters.

A detoxed home should help keep your family healthy.
