A Prayer for Healing

The Season of Creation encourages us to marvel at God’s

handiwork and to enjoy being a part of this creation. Our

wonderment also awakens our sense of responsibility for

preserving creation and remorse for forces (societal and

personal) that threaten the very creation we love. The

following Ojibway prayer expresses the desire for God’s

guidance.

Grandfather, look at our brokenness. We know

that in all of creation only the human family has

strayed away from the Sacred Way. We know we are

the ones who are divided. We are the ones who must

come back together to walk in the Sacred Way.

Grandfather, Sacred One, teach us love, respect,

compassion and honor. We pray that we may heal the

earth and heal each other. Amen

We know that just by living as humans we impact our

natural world. We also know ways to protect creation.
