Earth Day is always a good day to thank God for our wonderful planet that sustains life. We intuitively know we need to care for it, but greed, love of power and short-term thinking can get in the way. God’s word, prophetic leaders and the Holy Spirit can lead us on a different path — one of stewardship. This stewardship calls each of us to do all we can to protect our planet. Every action is important and multiplied leads to greater success.

To help us remember to act as Earth Stewards we can remember the five “R”’s and apply them to all aspects of our lives.  

• The first and most important is reduce. Moderating our consumption is key.  

• Reuse, repurpose, recycle and repair are all actions that help us manage our “stuff.” 

• Rejuvenate the soil through composting and the soul through prayer and learning.
