TIPS FOR GREEN CHRISTMAS

Here are some tips for having a Christmas that is merry

and bright and is a bit easier on Mother Earth. We can do

quite a bit with just some easy and thoughtful tweaks.

These tips are under topics.

Decorations: Use LED Christmas lights, make your own

decorations (avoid glitter), turn lights off during the day,

remove all decorations and recycle live trees. Use old

cards for tags and other decorations.

Gifts: Think quality over quantity, avoid plastics, check

sustainably, consider giving experiences like museum trips

or family memberships, consider second-hand clothing.

Wrapping: Consider paper bags, newspapers,

magazines, or cloth scraps or another gift as wrappings.

Reuse gift bags each year. Use tie-on gift tags. Cloth

scraps can be recycled.

Food: Shop with a list, plan for storage and leftovers. Gift

some leftovers, make soups and compost the rest.

Have a very green Christmas!
