Trinity Episcopal Children and Youth Programs
Below are our children's Sunday school class offerings. Please note that during the summer, Kids' Sunday Adventures and Godly Play Plus are combined into one class. This class meets during the 10:30am service on Sunday in the downstairs children's education area.
Nursery service is still provided on the main floor in the nursery.
Nursery (Birth – 3 years) Our nursery is available for infants to 3 years. Jack Sanner, with 3 years experience, is our main caregiver as well as Natalie Wilkins. Nursery care is available Sunday mornings from 9:00am – 11:30am. We have a small, quiet room for nursing, diaper changes, naps and general quiet time, and a larger play room with age-appropriate toys. Our nursery is also equipped with a nursery paging system. The nursery is located in the hallway leading to the Parish Hall. Please also let us know if you need nursery assistance for your children for the 6pm service, so that we can make arrangements. We are happy that you're visiting Trinity!
Early Christian Awareness (6 months – 3 years) Trinity’s youngest members, friends, and visitors may participate in our Early Christian Awareness (ECA) program each Sunday during the 10:30am service. Our ECA teachers use sensory exploration along with story telling and songs to experience God’s love for His smallest children. ECA is lead by a rotation of teachers. ECA meets in the nursery, which is located in the hallway leading to the Parish Hall.
Kids Sunday Adventures (3 years – 5 years/PreK) Trinity’s Pre-kindergarten members, friends, and visitors begin their worship in the Church Sanctuary at 10:30am and are lead by the Cross to the lower level classrooms for a Bible story and lesson. Children in our Kids Sunday Adventures (KSA) class will hear and learn some of the best-loved Bible stories and Episcopal basics such as the Episcopal prayers, Episcopal Sacraments and traditions. Each week, the KSA children will leave with artwork and ideas so you can continue your child’s faith development at home.
Godly Play Plus (Kindergarten – 2nd Grade) Trinity’s Kindergarten to 2nd grade members, friends, and visitors begin their worship in the Church Sanctuary at 10:30am and are lead by the Cross to the lower level classrooms for Godly Play Plus. Melanie Hepburn and Anne Patterson teach the Godly Play Plus class which generally follows the Episcopal Lectionary each week. Children will hear stories of the Bible and are encouraged to re-tell the story through dramatic play, crafts, and games. Melanie and Anne have over 10 years experience teaching this class to our creative, younger children. Trinity Youth Groups Grade School Youth Group (3rd Grade – 5th Grade) Junior High Youth Group (6th Grade – 8th Grade) Trinity’s Grade School Youth Group is for our members, friends, and visitors in grade 3rd through 5th, and our Junior High Youth Group is for members, friends, and visitors in grade 6th through 8th. The groups meet on alternate Sunday’s following the 10:30am service to explore their Christian faith through fellowship, activities, service projects, and mostly to have a great time as they put their faith into action. Trinity’s Youth Group leaders are: Lisa Suddith, Donna Griffin, Anita Faulkner, Linda Trotter, and Dawn Trotter. Please contact Donna Griffin (donna.griffin@gouldevans.com) if you would like more information about our Youth Group activities.
Choristers (3rd Grade – 9th Grade) Susan Ralston is Trinity’s Youth Music Director. Choristers begin their rehearsals in September through May and meet Tuesday evenings from 4:15pm – 5:00pm in the upstairs classrooms. They sing an anthem once a month for the congregation. This fun group is open to all children in 3rd through 9th grade.
Acolytes (3rd Grade – 12th Grade) The Acolytes at Trinity serve an integral part of the worship service. Acolytes serve in processions, bearing crosses and candles; and they serve at the altar, aiding the Deacon and Priest in preparing the table for Communion. Young people in grades 3rd through 12th are welcome to serve as an Acolyte. Please contact Brian Haupt or Rachel Buerman (785-640-4348) if you would like to be an Acolyte at Trinity.
Parish Library for Children Trinity’s library has several books and videos for children and their parents. Seasonal books are also on display throughout the year for your convenience to checkout. The library is open Sunday mornings and other times by request. Ruth Turney, our parish librarian, can assist you with finding a special book to read with your child, as well as books for parents.
